You are required to have a Tourist visa which you can obtain from any Egyptian Consulate in your home country or upon arrival at Cairo Airport upon payment of US$ 15 or £ 10. These rules are applicable to most nationalities.

You need a passport valid for at least six months to obtain a visa. The cost is different per nationality but ranges between $15 and $ 30 (US) per person. Depending on your nationality, you can obtain a visa by arrival in the airport. This is possible for all European countries, except Croatia. All other nationalities please contact the Egyptian embassy or Consulate nearest you.
Language
Egyptian people speak Arabic. Many Egyptians will know some English or French, especially in tourist areas.
Currency
Modern Egyptian currency (specifically paper money) ranges from the 25 Piaster (quarter pound note) up to a 100 pound note. Egyptian money is both colorful, and attractively designed.
Electricity
Egypt uses 220 volt / 50 HZ and plugs are two prong rounded.
Weather in Egypt
Egyptian summers are hot and dry in most of the country and humid in the Delta and along the Mediterranean Coast. Winters are mild with some rain, but usually there are bright, sunny days and colder nights. There is a short spring and autumn and during the 50 days (khamseen) between the end of March and mid-May, dust storms can occur sporadically.
Pets
Pets may enter Egypt provided you provide a certificate of origin and a health certificate. There are no specific forms for this, but a dated, signed letter is acceptable. The certificate of origin may be provided by the pet store where your pet was purchased or by a vet. The certificate of health must be provided by a vet.
